Hatch Act complaint against Labor inspector general D'Esposito

Stage 3 of 5: Official review · IG, ethics office or majority · Last development 14 Oct 2026

CREW complained that Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D'Esposito used his office's official X account to post content praising the administration's policies. After the inspectors general council's Integrity Committee declined further action, the Office of Special Counsel told CREW it has accepted the matter for review. Sen. Blumenthal had separately asked OSC in February to examine whether D'Esposito's apparent congressional campaign violated the Hatch Act.

OSC accepting a complaint for review is not a finding of a violation. The date of OSC's letter is reported only as a Wednesday, likely 14 Oct.
