For journalists
For journalists and researchers
The Public Trust Tracker is a free, nonpartisan reference on official investigations, inquiries and public records concerning US federal executive officials, and on what Donald Trump promised on the record. Every entry links to its sources. You are welcome to use it without asking.
Use and credit
- Text, data and screenshots are free to reuse under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.
- Please credit "Public Trust Tracker" and link the case page you used, so readers can check the sources themselves.
- For facts in your own reporting, please cite the primary sources listed on each case page. The tracker is a guide to the record, not a substitute for it.
How to cite a case
Every case and promise page ends with a ready-made citation, for example:
Public Trust Tracker. "Trump family crypto ventures" (INV-001). Last updated 21 Oct 2026. https://publictrusttracker.org/case/inv-001-trump-family-crypto-ventures/
Case numbers never change. INV is a Money & ethics case, ELX an Elections case, MED a Press & media case and PRM a promise. Links stay valid when a case is updated.
What a listing means
Being listed is not a finding of wrongdoing. Each case shows its stage, from 1 (news reporting only) to 5 (an outcome, with the result stated). A case moves up only when a dated official step is on the record. Allegations are labelled as allegations, and the response of the people involved is quoted where one exists. Money is shown by type and never added up into one total. The full method is on the About & method page.
Staying up to date
