Navarro's book promotion from the White House (allegation)

Stage 2 of 5: Inquiry · Letters and records requests · Last development 20 Oct 2026

The watchdog group CREW alleges that White House senior counselor Peter Navarro used his official position to promote his book "Why Fauci MUST Rot in Prison", released 20 Oct 2026. CREW says he was interviewed about the book in his White House office while introduced by his official title, urged viewers to buy it on Amazon, and posted a clip on an X account it considers official. It asked the Office of Government Ethics and White House Counsel to investigate a possible breach of the federal rule against using public office for private gain (5 CFR 2635.702) and to take any necessary disciplinary action.

Allegation only: this case rests on a complaint by an advocacy group (CREW) and one news report. No ethics office has announced a review or made a finding, no major outlet has covered the complaint, and Navarro and the White House have not responded publicly. Mediaite describes the 7 Oct appearance as "from outside the White House", while CREW says a label placed him at the White House.
