Trump's personal stock trades and companies he praised

Stage 2 of 5: Inquiry · Letters and records requests · Last development Sep 2026

Trump's disclosure reports show tens of thousands of stock trades in accounts held for him since he returned to office, more than all members of Congress combined according to a Bloomberg count. In several cases his accounts bought shares in a company shortly before he praised it in public, including Dell, Thermo Fisher and Micron. Sen. Warren and Rep. Garcia have asked him whether he directed any of the trades. The White House and the Trump Organization say the accounts are managed independently by financial institutions.

Disclosures give only value ranges and are filed weeks later. The managers say the trades are automated. No official finding shows that Trump directed any trade or used non-public information. Trade volume is not money gained.

Responses

  • Trump Organization spokesperson: "President Trump's investment holdings are maintained exclusively through fully discretionary accounts independently managed by third-party financial institutions", using "automated investment processes and systems administered by those institutions". [2]
  • White House spokesman Davis Ingle: Says third-party institutions manage the portfolio through "computer-based model portfolios that automatically replicate recognized indexes, such as the Schwab 1000," and that "there are no conflicts of interest." In May the White House had described the assets as held in a trust managed by the president's children. [3]
  • Eric Trump: Said any suggestion that a family member was buying individual stocks "would be a lie and blatantly false." [3]

Who is acting on it
