GEO Group: ICE contracts, donations and a former executive at the top

Stage 2 of 5: Inquiry · Letters and records requests · Last development 3 Aug 2026

GEO Group runs about a third of immigration detention and gets about half its revenue from ICE; its 2025 profit rose to more than $250 million. A GEO subsidiary has given $4.4 million to the pro-Trump super PAC MAGA Inc. Former GEO executive David Venturella became acting ICE director in June 2026. In July 2026 ICE approved two five-year GEO contracts worth $85 million and $80 million a year. A GEO subsidiary gave MAGA Inc. more than $1.4 million that month, including a donation on July 16, three days after the first approval, according to the New York Times.

No evidence has been published tying any contract to a donation. The donation amounts come from media reviews of MAGA Inc.'s FEC reports; we have not checked the filings directly.
